Here is a basic guide from Mercury for maintenance / winterization. Your engine is basically a 3.0 L Optimax outboard powerhead coupled with a jet drive. This is a guide, you really should invest in a service manual from Merc if you are going to do it yourself. Keep in mind, a mistake could cost you an engine, so if you are not confident of your abilities, take it to a dealer.

I owned one and had it on the water once the whole two years I owned it. The rest of the time I was working on it or waiting on parts so that I could work on it lol. I may have just had a bad one there may be good ones but I'm just not a fan of the rotary valve systems myself. Reed valves are a lot easier to deal with and work on.

Why doesnt my 1995 seadoo xp jet skie start up??
I have a 1995 Seadoo xp jet skie. It seems like the gas/fuel
doesnt go directly to the carburetor. My jet skie only starts up if I put the Carburetor cleaner and it only starts up for a couple of

Look for a fuel cutoff valve. Sounds like you've traced the problem correctly. It's definitely the fuel. So now either the gas tank is empty or you have a blockage in the fuel line into the carburetor. Try removing the fuel line and see if anything comes out. Try blowing back through into the gas tank. I'm pretty sure you won't have a fuel pump. The website below seems to specify a diaphragm type carburetor for the earlier years of the seadoos which means that the diaphragm will generate a vacuum to draw in the fuel. You can also try holding a finger over the input to the carb and cranking the engine to see if any suction is being developed.

I took it out to the lake and forgot to close the things in the back that lets the water out when you are done riding. So it got some water in it and i thought it just messed up the battery so i went to go buy a new one but i put it on and still won't start it just makes a beep noise when i push the start button. If you submerged the starter motor, it likely needs to be removed, disassembled, and dried out, at a minimum. Check all fuses first though.

Why does the throttle on our 1997 seadoo challenger at times not go past quarter throttle?
You may have a kink in the throttle cable. The cable could be sticking and needs to be removed greased and put back. The trottle cable may need to be adjusted properly.. Do you get it . The trouble is most likely in the throttle cable. If it checks out fine check the conections at the shifter box, and the complete shifter and trottle control box at the helm.. They were famous for bent linkages under the shift assembly. But also, does the boat rev up but not go anywhere? Seems to me like there is something in the way of the throttle linkage or lever.

I have a friend that works for seadoo and is able to get me great prices on overstock older boats they are blowing out. Namely theres a speedster i can pick up for half the price, but it looks small for what i want. I will be using it primarily down the jersey shore, ortley beach in the bay and very close to the shore in the ocean. Would this boat work is it too small, are any other seadoo models good for this kind of work.Can anyone tell me about Seadoo boats? looking for a shore boat.?

I agree with Kave.. Hey, there is a reason they are on sale/left overs. It's like a KIA with 150,000 miles on it when you want to sell..what's the resale of your money pit? Plus I know your area and boats really get a beating there in the bay. Corrosion and repairs from sucking in debre/salty baywater is common.

I sold SeaDoo jet Skis and boats for many years. Great boats with low maintenance. I can also say the same for Yamaha jet boats and skis as well. Yamaha, my opinion, has a more attractive design in their boats.
For the usage you have indicated the Speedster is too small in either the 15' or 20' version. I can say the 20' with twin engines (430 HP) is extremely fun but too small for the ocean or heavy wake patterns.
Price the 230 Challenger with 430 HP. This unit also comes in a "Wake" version which features the wake tower you can add options, i.e., "killer" sound system, wake board racks, etc.
Remember, SeaDoo's 430 HP is two 215 HP Rotax engines, 3 cylinder, 4 stroke each. If maintenance is a concern you will be charged for service on two engines by service centers. When I sold their was an option in some boats for a Mercury 6 cylinder engine, check on this as well.
Jet boats are great fun, fast, turn on a dime. Great for tubing and when skiing the boat will "jerk" as a skiier goes side to side because there is no prop to stabilize. I ski a lot behind all types of boats and some boat owners do not like this movement.
Good luck and use the experience and knowledge of your SeaDoo friend to help. SeaDoos are great to own.

How do i take apart the hull on a 96 seadoo spx?
need to get access to lower part of motor... just wrapped up messing with it for today... i am guessing that there are maybe some bolts under the rubber bumper/ guard? please adviseHow do i take apart the hull on a 96 seadoo spx?
upper and lower hulls are epoxied. much much easier to pull the motor and work on a bench if your doing a rebuild. the bolts are a pain to get to but when you find the right combination of cuss words and the right tools it comes right out.How do i take apart the hull on a 96 seadoo spx?

You are partially right in that they are under the bumper rail. You need to remove the center piece of rail and this will give you access to rivets not bolts, which have to be drilled out to remove. This is really not all that hard to do. The hard part comes to unhooking the wiring and cables to be able to remove the upper hull. Just pay close attention and mark everything you remove to be able to properly put it back in place.

I have a Seadoo. I have had mine for three years and used it both in fresh water and salt water. I have only done prescribed maintenance and have about 280 hours on my ski. I had Kawasaki prior to this one and it was not as reliable. Good luck, have fun and be safe.

we had a yamaha wave runner 760 for 5 years and it rocked no problems at all untill i jumped it into my brothers bass boat. didnt hurt the ski but it bashed the boat. we rode alot of ski's in that 5 years and i would say the yamaha is a great machine. my freind is a ski mechanic and he sees very few yamahas in the shop

How do i clean the carburetors on a 96' seadoo xp 800?
Well if you're asking this question I'll guess you don't have any experience in disassembling the carburetors. Therefore the two easiest ways to clean them are to first add some carburetor cleaner to the fuel and let that clean them slowly over the next tank or two of fuel. You can also get some spray carburetor cleaner, remove the air intake to the carburetor and spray them clean while the engine is off or while it's running. You just want to stop spraying as the engine begins to stall when the engine is running. The cleaner normally isn't flammable or at least not as flammable as the gas air mixture to the engine. Any other attempts would involve removing or disassembling the carbs and then you might disturb settings to jets and linkages that would need to be readjusted after reassembly. If you don't know how to clean the carbs you're definitely not ready to do a proper adjustment.

Well if it was run for an extended period of time after the oiler stopped working or ran out of oil the engine may be shot. If nothing else your best bet right now is to add the correct mixture of two cycle oil right into the gas and see if you can get it started again. If it's just the oiler that failed you can probably get away with always mixing the correct gas oil mixture externally and run the ski that way.
Good luck with getting it started. Hope you didn't get taken with a blown or seized engine..

Most all Sea-Doo models use a syphon system for getting water out of the hull.It uses the jet stream and bailer tubes that protrude into the stream (causing suction) to remove water.The most efficient way of doing this is wide open throttle in a straight line.Also the exhaust is cooled by the water your running in and if you tip the ski over you`ll get water from the exhaust in the engine and most likely hydrolock it.Then you have to pull the spark lugs out and crank it over till you get the water out and get it to start.Using some flamable carb cleaner shot into the spark plug holes always make this go alot easier when trying to get it started after getting most of the water out.This is very important, while you have the plugs out to crank it over and get water out you must ground the plugs or you`ll burn up the MPEM.They have posts in the engine compartment specifically for that reason.Also you don`t ever want sparks in the engine compartment because it could ignite any gas vapors and cause a fire.My 1997 SeaDoo Bombardier XP fills with water after rolling, should it self bildge, how do I fix it?

it sounds like it is losing fuel pressure, er it is losing the mpem signal. both are very expensiv parts. you should take it to dealer to be sure you are not throwing expensive parts at it you dont need

She saw her entire family die b4 her eyes, boats and speed DO NOT MIX !!!!!! Slow down, get experience (years of it) and still stay careful -- wild speed KILLS!!!

Divers discovered the body of a missing 20-year-old Golden Gate Estates man Monday afternoon while searching near the site of Saturday's deadly boat crash off Big Marco Pass near Marco Island.
The body of James Molter, 15095 Summit Place Circle, was discovered at 1:33 p.m. close to where the crash occurred, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Dani Moschella said. The FWC is the lead agency in the investigation of the crash.
"It was basically at the crash scene underwater," Moschella said. "Any time you do searches in water it's difficult. ... I understand the water conditions were somewhat murky during the first search. It's common for divers to miss something, which is why they went down again in the same place.
"It's kind of that needle in the haystack phenomenon."
The body was taken to the sheriff's substation on Marco Island and transported to the Collier County Medical Examiner's Office. Moschella said she could not confirm a report that Molter's body showed signs of trauma when it was found.
The FWC won't know whether the impact of the accident or drowning was the cause of death until the examiner's office releases the autopsy report. Moschella said she believed that autopsies had been performed on Linda Molter, 42, her daughter Meagan, 22, and Meagan's fianc茅, Harper Simpson II, 31, who died in the crash around sunset Saturday.

"We don't know if alcohol played a part in this crash," Moschella said. "That will be part of the medical examination. Toxicology reports can take weeks to come back."
Alan Molter, the father of James and Meagan, and the husband of Linda Molter, was not home on Monday evening for comment. Neither were the parents of Harper Simpson II. A woman who answered the door said Simpson's parents were busy making funeral arrangements, but provided a prepared statement, which she said was from both families.
"The Simpson family and Molter family would like to express our gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers during our time of great loss. Harper Jay Simpson II, his fianc茅e, Meagan Molter, and other family members of Meagan's family were on the boat, enjoying a fun afternoon of family togetherness. We have limited knowledge of the accident at this time. Hopefully, questions concerning this tragic accident will be answered with the ongoing investigation. We ask that the media please respect the privacy of the families and friends that are mourning. Funeral arrangements will be announced as soon as possible," the statement read.
Simpson's parents work at the Collier County Health Department where the atmosphere was grief stricken Monday, said Deb Millsap, spokeswoman for the department. Meagan Molter also worked at the hospital.
Simpson's father, also Harper Simpson, works in planning for disaster and terrorism response and his mother, Phyllis Simpson, works in the environmental health office in food safety inspection. Molter was a pool safety inspector.
"It's just grief everywhere," Millsap said, adding that the health department and its employees have always been like a family. "It's very sad. The couple was well loved and (so was) the family. It's pretty tough."
The family members died when the boat they were riding in, a 1994 Powerplay, flew into the air, slammed back into the water and broke apart, a Collier County sheriff's official said. The boat was traveling straight and at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred, Moschella said.
Jennifer Molter, 16, also of Summit Place Circle, was the only person on the boat to survive the crash. She was pulled from the water by fishermen and transported to NCH Healthcare System's Downtown Naples Hospital.
"It's a miracle that this girl survived with hardly a scratch," Moschella said. "I guess it just wasn't her time."
Alan Molter said Sunday that Simpson purchased the 33-foot boat about three weeks ago. He also said he noticed a stress crack on the boat, but wasn't sure if the crack was there before Simpson bought the boat.
Attempts to locate the boat's previous owner were unsuccessful Monday.
"As for stress cracks, that's common in older boats," Moschella said. "It happens. It doesn't necessarily mean that that crack caused the crash."
Mike Cozza, the manager of the DeVoe Collision Center where Simpson had worked for about seven years as an autobody employee, said Monday was a hard day for everybody at work. He described Simpson as a fun person who was close to all of his co-workers.
"We're devastated by it," Cozza said. "To see the place where he normally works empty, it's tough. It's a constant reminder that he's not with us any longer."
Cozza said he didn't know where Simpson bought the boat.
"He just recently got it and was really excited about it," he said.
The investigation into the cause of the crash will continue as investigators continue analyzing the remains of the boat, interview witnesses and talk to experts, Moschella said. Divers on Monday also discovered a section of the hull of the boat, she said.
"Every piece of that boat is important to our investigation," Moschella said. "They're going over the pieces inch by inch. ... It will help answer the questions we have about this crash. Every scenario, every possibility, they're considering."
In the accident's wake, officials emphasized the need for boaters to wear life jackets. None of the five people aboard the broken vessel was wearing life jackets, Moschella said.

If its connected to the oil tank there should be oil coming out of it. I suspect it is the battery overflow pipe.

If you still have a pressure leak in the system that will lower the boiling point. Have your cooling system pressure tested. Here's a scientific article about antifreeze and high temperature.

Does a Seadoo 1997 Challenger have a low fuel warning beeper?
I don't think it has a beeper, but it does have a gauge, and sensor. It should also have a "reserve" as well.

I would try draining, cleaning, and replacing my fuel first. After that, you may have a bad plug or timing problem. I had this problem and it drove me nuts... until I exchanged my fuel.

Sounds like you are right on the Flooding. The floats might be stuck in the carb. Hope this helps.catalytic converter

sorry but don has no idea what he is talking about. ok, hrer we go. disconnect the steering cable and the vts rod from the steering nozzle. then remove the four 13mm bolts that hold the venturi and steering nozzle on. these will come off as 1 unit. remove the three 5mm allen screws that hold on the pump cone. (make a catch pan out of a plastic jug, cut about 1" from bottom.) raise the front of the trailer as high as you can get it. put the pan under the pump and using a plastic handle of a big screwdriver tap on the point until it comes off. be sure not to turn engine over or pull on impeller shaft while you have cone off!!! if it has not been changed in a while it will be black and stinky. if the oil is milky. there is water in it and it will need to be resealed. let it drain about 15 or 20 mins. clean the cone out with brake cleaner. the white thing inside is called a pusher if it is round dont worry about it, it shouldnt fall out. if it is half moon shaped pay close attentoin to the taper on the back side to match the tapre of the spring and retainer.clean all the old sealer off the o-ring surface of the cone. get a new o-ring from the dealer when you get your pump oil p/n 293300011.if they try to sell you a 293250085, the 011 fits better. apply loctite 518 to rhe o-ring andput it on the cone. use blue loctite on the screws ant start all three. push the cone straight in and tighten the screws while holding the cone in. be sure the fill plug is toward the top. remove the fill plug, it should be pressure tested @ 9 p.s.i. for 20 mins. fill the pump it should hold about 2 1/2 to 3 oz. it takes a while to fill so be patient. you may think it's full but stop for a minute and then see if it takes more. put pipe thread sealer on fill plug (not teflon tape). be careful not to put the plug in crooked or overtighten. just till it's real snug. reassemble the rest (using the blue loctite on all the bolts. happy boating. if you have any questions, email me.How do I change to pump oil in my 1999 SeaDoo XP? ?

To change the oil in your seedo with the least mess you ought to buy a vacuum unit made especially to evacuate the oil.This unit can also be used on your motor vehicles.car van etc
The unit may be purchased from outlets as like Partco,Europarts etc,but you may have to order it.
It works by pushing a tube down into the oil sump and then pumping the unit to create the vacuum ( three different sized vacuum tubes are with the machine.)
The best results are with hot oil The vacuum unit has a pouring friendly spout that enables the captivated oil to be decanted into another vessel.
ps this is quite unlike the vacuuming at home ???

No. You have to have both an observer and room to pick up the person on the wet end of the rope. You need a 3-seater at least.

I have a 1998 Seadoo GSX Limited.The motor is a rebuilt, and I have a gel battery. Everytime I try to start it i get a flashing 12v Low, but after about the 5th try it will start. you might want to check the battery if you have a trickle charger, only 6-12 amps, charge the battery over night and try it in the morning. if that doesnt work, try getting a new battery. if that still doesnt work, i would have a mechanic look at it.walkie talkie

I have the 05' model of this and your should have a closed loop cooling system. if your coolant box is actually overflowing..check this when it is cold to make sure it is not overfilled. sounds like a problem with in the cooling system.

Almost certainly you just need to adjust the idle speed screw on the carburetor. Be sure to establish exactly which one this is before adjusting it, then do so when the engine is at normal operating temperature.

bad siuation for you. the electrical should have had a fuse for the start system and i'd expect it blew. I would start by finding the fuse panel or any and all fuses and test them for power. replace any that dont work. the ignition switch may have been damaged if it managed to get that far. I would say the ground is likely working if your able to crank the motor over. my guess is there is a burned out connection at the ignition switch and it feeds the coil or the electronic spark system.

My 97 SeaDoo GSI seems to cut off as soon as I reach max RPM's. It throttles up, then drops off. Any advice?
I replaced the plugs and cleaned the fuel filter. It has about 2 gallons of old fuel, but I burned em out. Its got 70 hours on it, and starts right up and is in good shape. Whats the problem? see if the symptoms are the same with the fuel valve on reserve, if they are, clean the fuel filter in the carburetor, if it runs ok on reserve then the valve is fouled/cloged

On each trip you'll be spending money for gas ( rough estimate is 7-8 gallons an hour burn rate ) two-stroke oil ( average price is $15 a gallon ) and various chemicals needed to clean your SeaDoo at the end of the day. For me, it probably costs me about $50 - $60 dollars each time I go out on the water, with most of the expense coming from fuel costs. At regular intervals based on engine hours, various maintenance work needs to be performed, if you have a shop do the work it'll cost an average of $75 an hour labor, plus parts. Doing it yourself will be substantially cheaper. For a season's worth of riding ( 80 hours per season is average for me ) a rough guess is it costs me close to $1,800 in fuel, $30 in oil, $30 in supplies, $75 in liability insurance, $35 for vessel assist insurance, with about another $150 set aside for misc. expenses. ( parts, repairs, trailer maintenance, etc, )

What is the purple knob on the side of my seadoo?
i have an 89 seadoo bombardier that i just bought. i am wondering what the purple knob is that is on the left side of the steering column? i turn it and i don't know what it does. also, when you lift up the seat there is a red lever that connects to the power wire, and when you turn it it starts the engine, but when it isn't turned the engine wont start. any ideas on that also?? thanksWhat is the purple knob on the side of my seadoo?

it depends on what your purpose for this boat is. Its not much to ski or wake board behind. It will be ok to wake skate and maybe tube behind. if you're just gonna cruise around it will be ok and fun enough. Its not gonna set any speed records if that's what you're looking for. It wont be a great boat for tons of ppl cause it will only hold 6 or so...for a good deal I guess it will be fine but I hope the price is right!national tire and battery

Also remember that you're dealing with a two cycle engine. If the automatic oil injector is still working just make sure it's filled if not you'll need to mix the appropriate amount of oil with the gas.
The top speed is about 60 mph. Check out the second link down below for a demonstration of the speed. If it can do 60 it can pull a tube. You just have to be careful starting off and turning. If you try to turn to abruptly the weight and mass of the tube behind the ski will have a much greater effect than if you pull the tube behind a larger boat.
I'll also give you a link to a sea doo owners forum so that you can see what other owners do as far as maintenance and repairs.

How do you change the oil on a 94 seadoo sp?

That's a two stroke, with oil injection. If the injection is functioning, keep the tank full ot TCW3 oil. If it's diabled, just premix the oil/gas and you're good to go. If you disable it, make sure to close the loop and keep oil in the line to lubricate the rotary valve drive.
There is oil in the pump bearing that needs to be changed every couple seasons. Unhook the steering and trim controls rods from the pump gimbal on the back of the ski. remove the nozzle using a 14mm socket and removing the 4 bolts. Don't lose the little o-rings on the pump. Use an allen wrench to remove the three screws from the nose cone on the back of the pump. Put a drip pan under the cone and catch all the used oil. Put on a new o-ring, then reinstall the cone. Make sure the little fill plug is on top. Remove the plug and fill with Seadoo pump oil ($13 for 6 ounces - ouch). Put the nozzle back on, and reassemble the steering/trim controls. I'm an idiot and didn't screw in the plug, ski ran fine until i turned it off and realized a few minutes later it was sinking. Pulled it to shore, drained it (water was pretty high), changed the plugs. It sounds like it wants to start just wont turn over. I would pull the plugs again and turn the engine (with plugs out) to remove any water in the engine. pull the carb. apart and clean the jets and reeds. put it back together and it should start.

Install the garden hose on the threaded extension back by the jet pump, start the engine, turn on your water. Do not run more than 5 minutes. Turn off water before shutting engine off.

I was riding my jet ski then all of a sudden it lost a little of its power and slowed down then died. I tried to restart it, and it wouldn't even turn over. I charged the battery, it has gas and oil. It will not turn over, and when i try to start it makes a clank noise then nothing. What is wrong with 1998 Seadoo GSX Limited?
Sounds like a broken rod.
Pull the plugs and see if it turns over, then remove the shaft cover and try and turn by hand. Try and turn forward and backward.
It sounds like it's gonna be costly!
Racing mechanics had noted that the GSX's stock oil injection pump was considered to be on the lean side and could possibly cause engine failure (piston siezure) if the throttle were held wide open for extended periods of time. For wide open running, it was suggested that the pump setting be adjusted to allow more oil into the engine to prevent siezing.
A quick inspection is to pull the spark plugs and look to see if there are any metal deposits (typically a shiney, powdery looking coating, or sometimes metal particles in severe siezures) on them. Just kidding. It will usually be either something pretty simple or else a real problem. The simple fix is that you may have picked up a rope or a garbage bay or something into the water intake. That can stop it from turning over in the water. If not you may have a cracked block or exhaust manifold and that's letting water into the engine and preventing it from starting. I hope you find a rope..

I think you are thinking of the Sunseeker's that have compartments for jet ski's in built in, but these are becoming more common in other boats. Good Luck!

We recently bought two SeaDoo PWC's (jet skis) and I wanted to know how I can tell what year they are?
They did not come with any manuals.|||the year is the last two digits in the serial #

There are a certain number of ignition assembies that are put into all machines. The dealer (if he is a larger operation) may stock one or two of each of the different "keys"..if he is a smaller dealer/marina, he may have to order one. (In theory, your key will work in other machines...you may have to try a few dozen different ones, but eventually it will start another machine)
Again, you won't have to bring your machine in to program anything, but you will need to bring in proof of ownership/serial numbers for your machine so he knows what key to give you.|||No, your stuck with the dealer. It's a part of the `anti-theft' system, and the dealer will require that your paperwork is in order. That means registration, and ID. Good Luck!

My parents have a property in the USA and I wish to buy a SeaDoo but SeaDoo states that if a Canadian buys a SeaDoo in the USA, they will void the warranty on both sides of the border. I watched him back DEEP into a lake...his back wheels were completely underwater, there was plenty of mud too....
He pulled right out without spinning AT ALL.....|||sure if you got a hitch you can tow a small trailer like one to pull a small boat or jetski an da few bikes with no problems and ive p[ick my jetski up an d few times and carried it to the water edge casue we couldnt get in where we was they not that heavy you couldnt pul it|||No issues pulling a small load like that!

How do you disconnect the drive line in a 1996 seadoo spx?
there is a round drive flywheel that bolts to the crank shaft of the motor. the drive coupler then bolts to this bombardier usually use allen sockect head screws. this also has the splines that connect to the impellor shaft. remove the shroud and then remove the bolts you then can slide the coupler back onto the shaft enough to remove the engine or disconect the drive. the shaft is then pulled out of the rear(after impellor hsng is removed)

What kind of oil does my 2000 seadoo gsx take?
the seadoo shop said to use their oil, and any other oil would result in motor failure. their oil is $50 a gallon. a buddy of mine uses oil that he gets from academy and it's only $20. i know it needs to be synthetic but seems like as long as it's synthetic then it's good!?|||just use the good brp xps or either amsoil interceptor which is 10 dollars cheeper. You need the good synthetic for the valves.

What do i do if the alarm is continuously going off when I try to start my 96 seadoo challenger?
as soon a I put the electronic key in place a constant ring (loud tone) starts. what could be wrong and how do I fix it. I took the boat out for the first time after having engine replaced and within 30 minutes it started making this ssound. I turned off engine to see if that would make it stop then had trouble getting it restarted. finally got it started and got back to dock. now it won't start at all and is still making that sound|||dont worry about why, just take it back to whoever did the engine replacement and have them fix their screwup.

I need to find the part number for a seadoo jetski impeller by model number?
I have the jetski But it's at the lake I'm trying to buy an impeller for backup. I have a Seadoo Jetski 2007 GTI model 237A 130 HP|||www.hlsm.com has links to part numbers and schematic drawings. I tried to look this up for you but there were multiple GTI models out there.
Looking from the water to the rear of my GTX seadoo, inside the hull indention for the steering component?
On the right side, there is a hole with a threaded ring on it which is about 4 in diameter. I have a leak there coming in from around it...I tried to check it and found it lose enough that I could turn it. What is it...I am gonna tighten it when I get big enough channel locks today.

as question says.|||By far the best readily available oil for you is Royal Purple.|||when it comes to boats and PWCs, the BEST oil you can use is the one with the makers brand name on it.
mercury products for mercurys.
yammaha products for yammies.
evinrude for 'rudes.
volvo for volvos.
and on and on.
the marine enivroment and how the motors are run is very different from the automotive world and products made for those conditions arent made for the conditions your motor will be ran in.
spend a little more on the PROPER product and get longer life out of your toy with less big dollar repairs in the long run.

I'm 13... almost 14 and i was wondering if i can go SeaDoo-ing with my family on my own Sea Doo or if I have to ride with a parent? Do you need a boat license or something? Thanks in advance|||drain the fuel or put stabil fuel treatment in the tank and run the engine a few minutes to get some of it to the injectors etc. do an oil change, cover the air inlets for the engine to avoid moisture and dirt entering. I would remove my plugs and apply antisieze compound to the threads to insure they are easily removed in spring. wash and wax the entire boat cleaning out the water intakes. grease any grease fittings. flushing the cooling system would be a nice touch as well. also when reinstalling the plugs put a little dielectric grease inside each boot end to insure rust or corrosion doesn't damage the wire ends.|||just hide in garage , away from the snow could be just covered|||cheat code

Why does my 96 Seadoo shut down when I come off cruise speed?
After a while, it will make a beeping sound and it's ready to go again. Gas and oil appear to be OK.|||I`ve come across this problem a few times at the dealership I work at, shuts down and then beeps twice at you. the 2 beeps indicate you just put the key/lanyard on and it`s the correct key.check the battery cables, when they are loose and loose contact it`s like pulling the lanyard off, and when they make contact again you get the 2 beeps like you reinstalled the key. Yours sounds like a faulty oil sensor in the oil tank. It must shut down the engine thinking its out of oil and then start to beep as it determines its just low and then will start again after it determines all is ok.

Can you buy spark plugs for a seadoo at a auto parts store?
We bought plugs for our PWC at Pepboys and now it's running kind of rough.|||Its best to run a good brand name plug in your PWC. I would suggest either NGK or Bosh spark plugs. Make sure you run the proper type plug according to your owners manual. If you do not have a owners manual most parts stores can look it up for you.
Some other things to try is add some gas additive to it called Sea Foam. About an ounce or two per gallon of gas.|||As long as you buy the proper plug, meaning the number of the plug is the exact number as the one you took out, or the one described in the owners manual AND you gap it properly, it matters not where you purchase it.

The engine bogs down when trying to accelerate. This happened once before but I want to try and fix without taking to a dealer if possible. Help!|||my ols sea-doo grate didnt come off without taking it in to a repair location. We just found a person with a tiny hand and reached up and grabbed the fishing line... happened to be wrapped around a piece of wood. we poked the wood with a knife and pulled it out that way. hopefully the newer models are easier to get into that area.|||take the intake grate off and manually pull the rope out

If you flip a seadoo will you flood the engine ?
Im going to be renting a seadoo, and i want to know if you flip it in the water (obvsly) will if flood the engine or just break down.|||They have an arrow on the bottom that shows you which way to flip it. So if you flip it it doesn't cause any problems...you just have to flip it in the proper direction when you put it right side up again.

What causes overheating on a Seadoo Sporter? Or in a jetski?
I have a Sportster 1800 and the overheat alarm keeps going off... What part wears out that causes it to overheat? I flushed the engine before we went out then it over heated.... The engines are the same as most of the jetskiis.|||Jet boats and jet skis don't have water pump impellers like outboards. They have a takeoff in the jet pump that diverts water to the head. That takeoff could be clogged, the hose could be clogged with pebbles or weeds, or an outlet could be mucked up. Look for a hose coming from the pump housing to the cylinder head, and start there. It should be the same hose as you flushed it with. It that's all free, look in the pump housing for obstructions.|||most likely cause: worn water pump impeller. not the jet drive impeller.
If you're in the habit of starting the engine while the boat is out of the water, you should be aware that it only takes about 45 seconds of dry running to damage a water pump impeller.
Other possible causes: worn water pump housing gasket, thermostat corroded or worn out, blockage in cylinder head water jacket, cooling water intake blocked, timing needs adjustment, lean mixture (air/fuel ratio too high) due to clogged/partially clogged hi-speed carb jets or fuel injectors, inadequate oiling. 2006 seadoo speedster engine stops after reaching 3000 rpm under load only?
Engine runs good under 3000 rpms with a slight wine. After 3000 rpms engine becomes jerky and alarms sound off. During flushing it runs good at all rpms. Unfortunately I do not have 6 weeks for dealership to fix it.|||is your intake grate clogged?

How do I change the spark plugs on a '06 Seadoo GTX 4TEC
to access the coils you will first need to remove the dipstick and plastic head cover. unplug the coils, remove them, remove plugs, an easy waw to install them is to take a 3 in. piece of 5/16 " fuel hose and slip it 1" over an 8" piece of 3/8" wooden dowel. slide plugs into open end of hose. install by hand, and tighten with.|||Those are "COPS" (coil over plugs) and yes you have to remove them to have access to the spark plugs.|||two easy steps

If you're not 18, your parents can enter into the contract for you. There are no legal requirements for licensing, but in most states, you must be 14 to operate, but the owner is ultimately responsible for damages incurred by the vehicle if someone gets into an accident. You need to check with local laws on PWC's in your area.
I also recommend taking a boaters safety course. It'll outline laws and regulations in your area and insurance companies usually offer a discount if you've taken one.
Upkeep is like any other thing. Gas, oil changes, washing, changing spark plugs, etc. If you take care of it, it'll be more dependable.

I have a 98 seadoo 951gsx limited. For some reason i am getting a milkey looking water in engine compartment.?
I have check all hoses %26amp; changed exhaust hose. Repaird leaky vavle on top of exhaust. It only comes in when running on the lake. I know that a higher octane is probably recommended for best performance, but with prices being so high i wouldn't mind using regular 87 if it will not hurt it. also, what kind of oil can i use. is there an alternative to the expensive oil that the manual says to use? i own a dirtbike and the manual says to use kawasaki oil which is 40 a gallon, and i use this stuff from wal-mart that is 40 dollars for 5 gallons and the oil is the same quality. thanks|||It is best to use OEM TWC-3 2 cycle oil recommended for your 2 stroke outboard or jetski. The reason is some 2 cycle outboards and PWC's are specifically designed to run with a certain level of lubrication that often times is not enough with aftermarket TWC-3 2 cycle oils. Also, OEM TWC-3 2 cycle oil is specially made to work with their oil injection systems too, getting a cheap TWC-3 oil might cause it to fail.
The best advice I can give you is go to several Seadoo dealerships and/or service shops and ask on whether OEM oil is necessary for your PWC's model and year. 90% or more of them will say, buy the stuff from the PWC's manufacturer for it.
So in short, only use OEM 2 cycle oil recommended for your PWC unless specifically told differently ONLY by a Seadoo dealership or Seadoo service shop which can back that claim up with evidence.
If you don't heed my advice, at least buy Quicksilver Premium 2 cycle outboard oil. Its the only aftermarket TWC-3 2 cycle oil I've ever trusted. The cheaper stuff is just plain engine wrecking junk in my experienced opinion.|||87 octane and Wal-mart oil is fine.
